STOCKARD.--Rev. James Luckey Stockard was born January 1, 1861.
He professed religion and joined the church in September, 1886,
and, in March, 1887, joined Charlotte
Presbytery, of which he has been a member ever since.
In January, 1888, he entered the Theological
Seminary at Lebanon, Tenn., and after two years there
he spent two years in school at Waverly, Tenn. His active life
in the ministry was short, only about five years, for in April,
1896, he became sick, and from that time to his death, November
21, 1899, he was a constant sufferer. January 25, 1892, he was
married to Miss Emma McAuley. He leaves a wife and two
little boys, also a mother, sisters and brothers and a host of
friends. His labor and suffering were great. May his crown be
bright and his joys full. The funeral service was conducted by
Rev. A. R. Brown, assisted by Rev. W.C. Carter and Rev.
A. M. Taylor, of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and
Rev. J. F. Tull, of the Baptist Church.
A. R. BROWN.
Erin, Tenn.
