McClurkan.-Rev. W. H. McClurkan was born in Dickson County, Tenn., October 6, 1859. He was the son of Rev. John McClurkan. He was received as a candidate for the ministry by the Presbytery of Charlotte of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in the early eighties. The record shows that he joined the Presbytery of Little River in Texas, by letter, July 5, 1883; and on the day following was licensed to preach the gospel. On December 12, 1885, he joined the Presbytery of Bacon by letter; and on the day following was ordained, at Morrison's Chapel, Henderson County, Texas. The sermon was preached by Rev. J. T. Joplin and the charge was by Rev. J. M. Brooks. His work was done mostly in Texas, although he spent some years in the Indian Territory. At the time of his death, March 30, 1908, at McKinney, Texas, he was a member of the Presbytery of Dallas and supply for Walnut Grove Church, Collin County, Texas. The Lord used him in winning many souls. He was a man of genuine piety, unblemished character and deep consecration.--R. W. Benge.

Death of Rev. McClurkan.
Our citizens
were shocked as well as grieved to learn of the death of Rev.
W. H. McClurkan, which occurred at McKinney, Texas, on Monday.
He was operated on for appendicitis and died from the effects
of the operation. Bro. McClurkan and family formerly lived in
Davis, he being pastor of the Presbyterian church. He had many
friends in this city, and indeed was well known throughout north
Texas. He was 48 years of age. Burial took place at Denton, Tex.
The many friends of the family deeply sympathize with them
in their bereavement. This is the third time in about two years
that death has invaded their home, the previous victims being
Bro. McClurkan's sons, Jim and Luther.
