Obituary of Dora L. Bates Matlock

MRS. R. E. MATLOCK
Dora L. Bates was born June 7, 1884, in Hickman County, Tenn. She professed religion and joined the Cumberland Presbyterian Church while yet a child. She moved with her parents to Texas, and on April 30, 1911, married R. E. Matlock at Collinsville, Texas, who afterwards became a Cumberland Presbyterian minister and was a vital force in the Texas Synod until two years ago, when they came to the pastorate of the church at Marlow, Okla.

Mrs. Matlock's death occurred April 13, 1926, in the Ruth Hospital, Duncan, Okla. She leaves a husband, three children, her parents and three brothers, looking to the reunion that awaits them.

Mrs. Matlock was an earnest, consecrated Christian, loyal in all departments of the Church, a faithful assistant to her husband in his work, and a tender, devoted wife and mother.

Whereas, the Father, in love, has called her to rest from her suffering, be it resolved:

That we humbly acknowledge that in infinite wisdom he doeth all things well.

That the Marlow church and auxiliary have suffered an immeasurable loss, and our town and community have known the passing of a good woman.

That our deepest sympathy goes out to the grief stricken husband and children; that while we deeply grieve, we fail not to life our hearts to God in thanks for her splendid example of patience in suffering, cheerfulness in the face of discouragement, and unswerving loyalty to duty.

That a copy of these resolutions be sent to The Cumberland Presbyterian, a copy to the Indianola Cumberland, a copy given to the family and a copy spread on the minutes of the woman's auxiliary.
       Mrs. W. S. McCaskill, Committee.
