Rev. R. E. Matlock died January 13 at his home at Camden, Ark., after being in poor heath for a number of years. He was a member of Mound Prairie Presbytery at the time of his death.
Two of his sons are ministers in the church: Rev. A. G. Matlock, of the Fresno, Calif., church, and Rev. Joe Matlock of Camden, Ark.
Ordained to the ministry in 1918, Brother Matlock was educated at the old Leonard College, a school once carried on by the denomination at Leonard, Tex.; he served most of his ministry in churches in Texas. Under his ministry the present editor of THE CUMBERLAND PRESBYTERIAN in boyhood was converted and received into the church.
He was a commissioner to the 1948 General Assembly in Nashville and nominated Rev. Paul F. Brown to become moderator.
The funeral was conducted by Rev. G. L. Waddle of Midlothian, Texas, and Rev. Fred W. Bryson of Dallas. Interment was in the Campground cemetery, Terrill, Texas.
Mrs. Matlock survives as well as other children in addition
to the two minister sons.

Rev. R. E. Matlock, Arkansas
R. E. Matlock
was born April 20, 1889 in Collinsville, Texas. He was twice married
and was the father of six children.
Surviving him are his wife, four sons: Rev. Arleigh and Billy Matlock, both of Fresno, Calif.; Rev. Joe Matlock and Johnnie Matlock, both of Camden, Ark.; two daughters: Mrs. A. L. Gullick and Mrs. H. G. Rivers, both of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren. Other survivors include his mother, Mrs. J. C. Matlock of San Antonio, Tex.; three brothers: Claude, C. O., both of Collinsville, Texas and Jessie of Carlsbad, New Mexico; two sisters: Mrs. A. H. Bates of San Antonio, Tex., and Mrs. Guy Richards of Collinsville, Tex.
Brother Matlock has been a minister of the gospel for more than 35 years in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, having served many congregation. All those whom he served love him because of his faith and great devotion to the work of the kingdom. He would go anywhere at any time that he could be a help to his fellow men.
For the past two years he had served the church in the Fellowship community near Camden, Ark. He was a member of the Masonic lodge and was one of the most faithful members in both duty and attendance.
He passed away at his home Jan. 13, 1950 at the age of 61 years. His body was brought to the Campground cemetery, Terrill, Tex., for burial near the church he had served and loved for a number of years. The church was filled to full capacity with the loved ones and many friends who came to pay their love and respect. The great floral offering was a tribute to his memory.
The service was conducted by Rev. Fred Bryson and the writer with last rites by the Masonic lodge of Terrill.
