Bro's Albert Shelton and A. N. Larkins were received under the care of this Presbytery as Candidates for the holy ministry; and ordered that Bro. Shelton, write a discourse from Heb. 4: 9, and Bro. Larkins, write a discourse from I John 2: 1, to be read at the next stated meeting of this Presbytery.

Report - Your missionary on the Charlotte mission, respectfully reports compliance with the order of Presbytery--has been unable from sickness to attend to his circuit all the time; and in consequence of this and revivals of religion, have not reached the following appointments: Ships Bend, Mackinsse's, Tubbs, School-house, Blue Creek and Buffalo. He has preached 73 times. We have had 84 professions, 28 accessions, 22 adult and 15 infant baptisms. Received $17.80.

The Examining Committee reported that they had examined Bro. A. N. Larkins on all parts of trial preparatory to ordination, and found him up to the requirements of the Confession of Faith, and the Presbytery ordained him to the whole work of the ministry.

Resolved by this Presbytery. That a Missionary sermon be preached at its next stated meeting and a collection be taken up for the Assemblies Board of Foreign and Domestic Missions, and that Rev. A. J. Parrish preach said sermon, and Rev. A. N. Larkins be his alternate.

Resolved, That the (Charlotte) Presbytery request Rev. A. N. Larkins to prepare a memoir of the Rev. Robert U. Dunlap, for the use and benefit of the Presbytery, as soon as the nature of the case will permit.

In concurrence with petitions from the several congregations, the Presbytery ordered the following installations of pastors: Rev. A. N. Larkins, at Prospect, at 11 o'clock, A.M., on the first Sabbath in July.
Rev. A. C. Stockard, Rev. A. N. Larkins, and Rev. A. A. Wilson are hereby appointed a committee to visit the school (Cloverdale High-school, in Dickson county), on the part of the Presbytery, at its next examination.

Mortuary.--Also, on the 3d inst., Rev. A. N. Larkins, of the Charlotte Presbytery, died in the town of Carbondale [sic - Corbondale), Tenn. He was an excellent preacher; but, in the prime of life, he was cut down by that fatal disease, consumption.

--We regret to announce the death of Reverend A. N. Larkins, a minister of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He died at Corbandale last Sunday of consumption, which full disease has taken all the family save two. Dr. J. M. Larkins, our worthy townsman and one other brother, are being the only survivors.
