Synod
Rushville,
Sangamon
and Mackinaw
Presbyteries
Resolved, That a new Synod be stricken off from the Illinois
Synod, to be known by the name of the Meheca Synod,
to be composed of the following Presbyteries, viz: Rushville,
Sangamon
and Mackinaw
-- that the first meeting be held at Rushville, Illinois on Thursday
before the third Sabbath in October next; that Rev.
John M. Berry be the first Moderator, and in case of his
absence Rev.
Abner McDowell.

1840 - Name changed to Sangamon Synod
The Committee appointed to examine the Minutes of the Meheca
Synod, report; That they have discharged that duty, and find
no violations of our discipline in said Minutes; but find a memorial
in the minutes of 1838 praying that the name be changed to Sangamon,
which memorial is hereby submitted with this report, which is
adopted. And on motion, Resolved, That the prayer of the memorialists
be and the same is hereby granted; passed first and second reading.
