Presbytery proceeded to examine Messrs. William Barnett, David McLin, and William Bumpass on English Grammar and Divinity, which were unanimously sustained, and Philip McDaniel [sic: McDonnold] on English Grammar, which was sustained.
Mr. William Bumpass delivered a discourse from John III, 14, 15, which was unanimously sustained as a popular discourse preparatory to licensure.
The Presbytery having examined Messrs. David McLin, William Barnett, and William Bumpass, on the several parts of trial required by this Presbytery to their satisfaction, and they having adopted the Confession of Faith, agreeably to the requirement of Cumberland Presbytery, Presbytery, therefore, did license them to preach the gospel in the bounds of this Presbytery, or wherever God, in his providence, may call them.
Ordered, that Messrs. Robert Donnell, Samuel Donnell, William Barnett, David McLin, William Bumpass, and Philip McDaniel [sic: McDonnold], be required to stand an examination on English Grammar at our next stated Presbytery.
