The committee on Literature and Theology made a report which was concurred in and the recommendations adopted.

We submit the following:
We have had before us Probationers Leland Turnbow and Henry Alford for a few minutes, and have examined them as to their literary and theological qualifications. We find they have had as much a high school education and more, and they promise to further pursue their studies, both in literature and theology, also they will every opportunity in exercising their talents in public exhortation.

We therefore recommend that the Presbytery assist these worthy young men in every way possible.

The committee on Literature and Theology made a report which was concurred in and the recommendations adopted.

We, your committee on Literature and Theology beg leave to submit the following report.
We have had before us Brothers E. H. Alford, L. P. Turnbow and W. E. Bell. We have examined them regarding their literary qualifications and find them satisfactory.

We recommend that the rules be suspended, and that E. H. Alford be licensed and ordained this afternoon at 3 o'clock and that Rev. K. I. Ingram of Bartholomew Presbytery is requested to preside, license and give the charge and proceed with the Presbytery to his ordination and setting him apart to the full work of the ministry.

We recommend that Bros. Turnbow and Bell be instructed to continue their studies in literature and theology, and we recommend that they study Blake's Theology and our Confession of Faith.

The sermon preached by L. P. Turnbow was received by the committee as satisfactory.

The special hour called for in the report on Literature and Theology having arrived, Rev. K. I. Ingram of Bartholomew Presbytery took charge and proceeded to license and ordain candidate E. H. Alford.

Rev. C. A. Overbey, Sam Ashmore, Hugh M. Yandell, R. B. Roach, and J. W. Alford of Ewing Presbytery took part in the ordination.

By motion, Brother Alford's name was enrolled on the roll of ordained ministers of the presbytery.

We your committee on Pastorates and Supplies, beg to submit the following report:
We have had referred to us a communication from Dover Church, having embodied in it a call to the Rev. H. H. Hunter to take up the work as pastor of that church, and asking that the necessary steps be taken for his installation.

We recommend that the first Sunday in April at 7:30 p.m. be set as a date and hour for this important service, and that the Revs. K. I. Ingram, J. W. Alford and E. H. Alford be named as a committee to do this work.

Rev. K. I. Ingram is to preach the sermon, and the Rev. E. H. Alford to have charge of the installation.

We also have the following calls from the different churches:

Death
Rev. E. H. Alford, pastor of the Gum Springs church of Ewing Presbytery, passed away Aug. 17 at his home near Dardanelle, Ark. Funeral Services were held Aug. 21 at the Russellville, Ark. church. Rev. J. T. Bingaman conducted the service and Rev. Clyde Kinslow assisted.

Ewing Presbytery

Rev. E. H. Alford was born July 27, 1890 and died August 17, 1960. He was the son of the late Rev. J. W. Alford and Mrs. Nancie Jane Alford.

He had been an ordained minister for thirty-one years and during that time had missed preaching only twice, due to illness.

His bereaved ones are his wife to whom he had been married forty-five years, one son, four daughters, ten grandchildren, two brothers, one sister, and a host of other relatives and friends.

His funeral was held in the Cumberland Presbyterian church, Russellville, Ark. with Rev. J. T. Bingaman and Rev. Clyde Kinslow officiating.
