The Oliver's Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church located near Bradford, Tennessee was organized October 4, 1874 by Rev. James A. Keaton in the Idlewild community and named Beech Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Minutes of April 12, 1913 show that the name was changed to Oliver's Chapel. The church was constructed near the Oliver's cemetery on land donated by Mr. Lige Carr. Rev. Keaton served as the first minister. In the early 1900s, weather permitting, Sunday school was held each Sunday with preaching services one Sunday a month. In the early history of the church the offering plates were not passed to the congregation; people gave money to the elders to cover necessary expenses In the early 1950s the church session voted to pass the offering plate during Sunday worship; however, the practice of donations to the elders continues today during the annual revival services. The Oliver's Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Women's Organization was organized September 1, 1939 as the Missionary Society by Miss Pearl Steele. There were seventeen charter members. The Cumberland Presbyterian Women's Ministry is still active today. In the mid 1960s, additional Sunday school rooms, restrooms, and a kitchen area were added to the church. In 1984 a larger fellowship area was added with inside finish work being done by the pastor, Alan Jones, and men and women of the congregation. The building and contents were completely destroyed by fire caused by a faulty floor furnace October 14, 1986. The first worship service after the fire was held outside on the church grounds on October 19, 1986. Due to approaching cool weather, services were moved to a four-room house furnished by members of the church. The congregation met there until moving into the new church on July 5, 1987. During the time in the old house, thirteen members were added to the church roll. A steeple was installed in 1997 which completed the construction. At the present time there are thirty active members with seventy-three total members on the church roll. The average attendance is forty-one for Sunday morning services. Sunday school and a Sunday night service is held weekly.

The following was read and prayer therein granted. Whereas two new congregations have been organized within the bounds of this Presbytery, each in Gibson Co. known as Milan and Beach Grove and whereas said congregations promise conformity to the Rules and Regulations of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and to support the Gospel as God may enable them and being present by their Representatives H. A. McCrackin from Milan and W. M. Simmons from Beach Grove praying to be received under the care of this Presbytery, Therefore Resolved that said prayer be granted and the names of the Representatives enrolled.
