Report No. 2--Board of Missions
To the Lebanon Presbytery of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, in session with the Providence congregation in the regular spring meeting, April 10, 1945.
Brethren:
In regard to the communication referred to us concerning the organization of a Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Old Hickory, we recommend:
First, as it is going to be necessary to use mission funds and as a commission is usually designated by presbytery to look into the feasibility of such an organization and then proceed, therefore we feel it is best that presbytery designate the Board of Missions of Lebanon Presbytery to act as said commission.
Second, we also recommend that the Board of Presbyterial Missions not only be designated a commission but given full power and authority to proceed as they feel best, after careful study,with the right to expend whatever money is necessary from the treasury of the Presbyterial Board of Missions.

Special Committee on Old Hickory Church
We have before us a communication stating that a Cumberland Presbyterian Church was organized at Old Hickory, Tennessee, on April 22, 1945, said communication make request for membership in Lebanon Presbytery and is signed by P. R. Russell, supply pastor, and Elders T. H. Garrett, G. C. Perry, and J. C. Earheart. We also note that in the spring meeting of presbytery the Presbyterial Board of Missions was designated as a commission to look into the feasibility of such organization.
Whereas it appears that due to a question in following the law of the church, the church was organized on April 22, 1945.Therefore, even though the will of the presbytery was not fully carried out,
We recommend that the above named session and commission meet at once and prepare the proper application; that the clerk be instructed to enroll the church as the Old Hickory Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Old Hickory, Tennessee, on receipt of application.

On motion this report was received and its recommendations adopted.
A petition was presented from the Old Hickory congregation in which they requested that the Presbytery allow them to change the name to the Madison Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Dear Brethren:
INASMUCH: as the Old Hickory Congregation of this presbytery has permanently moved to the Location of 107 Oak St., Madison, Tennessee, and is now operating there,
And
INASMUCH as it is necessary that we be designated by the name of the town in which we are located--,
THEREFORE; We, the Session of the Old Hickory Cumberland Presbyterian Church do hereby pray and petition your reverend body to change the name of said congregation to the Madison Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and that it be from this date known as the Madison C. P. Church, and that the delegate elected to this session of presbytery be seated as the delegate from the Madison church.
