What is its Purpose? What does its Logo Symbolize? Who are its Staff Members? What is a Vision Bearer? What is a Vision

The Vision Bearers
were a group of people selected by the steering committee to
help bear a vision of the Church to presbyteries and local congregations.
This vision incorporates the three priority goals of the Church:
(1) to recruit, educate and nurture clergy and laity for their
specific ministries, (2) to revitalize and equip congregations
and presbyteries to fulfill the mission (vision) of the church,
and (3) to establish new congregations. The steering committee
chose persons who had some background in the vision of ministry
and priority goals and who could speak enthusiastically about
the process. Thirteen
Vision Bearers were recruited to the task. On January 28, 2000, nine of the Vision Bearers and executives of denominational boards came to Memphis, TN for a training meeting. The meeting introduced them to TOUCH THE FUTURE through a video presentation and small and large group discussion. There was time spent critiquing the resources available to them and the process that they would use for their presentations to presbytery. Another "mini-training" session was held the next weekend in Nashville, TN for the remaining Vision Bearers who were not able to attend on the 28th. At each 2000 Spring meeting of presbytery and Fall meeting of Grace Presbytery, each Vision Bearer was asked to present the vision and priority goals of the Church. They led the presbyteries through small group discussion (in most cases) and a viewing of the video introducing TOUCH THE FUTURE and the General Assembly vision and priority goals. Several Vision Bearers also met with General Assembly boards and agencies to inform them about TOUCH THE FUTURE and its process.
