A History of

Touch the Future

In 1997, the General Assembly Council appointed a steering committee to look at a capital campaign process and funding for the next decade. This steering committee felt our Church needed to decide to what ministries God was calling us before deciding what funds would be needed. This committee was appointed after the FutureTrends survey identified capital needs of $67-$97 million over the next ten years for the 250 churches reporting.

The steering committee, with the help of Roger Ricketts, decided the process of discernment would best meet the needs of our Church. Members of this steering committee were John Godwin, Davis Gray, Judy Keith, Richard Magrill, Jean Richardson, Mike Sharpe, and Jeff Sledge.

A General Assembly Council sub-committee now oversees TOUCH THE FUTURE. The sub-committee members are G.T. Carr, Betty Jacob, Jane Jennings, Tiffany McClung, Sam Romines, and Mike Sharpe.
