Our United Outreach Coordinator Position

The Cumberland Presbyterian Church is seeking an Our United Outreach Coordinator responsible for creating and managing a comprehensive strategic fund development effort to support the ministries of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The scope of responsibilities includes oversight of fund appeals through Our United Outreach (OUO), and successful development of resources to create a secure long-term income base leading to a financially self-sustainable funding stream, educating congregations to understand that OUO giving is related to spiritual growth and obedience and is not a tax or membership fee. Applicants are asked to submit an application (application.doc), a resume and two letters of recommendation (in PDF) describing the candidate’s fund development experience, professionalism, creativity and commitment. Ordained clergy who wish to apply may use current Personal Information Form in lieu of a resume. Letters of recommendation may not be from current denominational Center staff. Complete application packets (application, resume/ Personal Information Form and two letters of recommendation) should be emailed to the attention of Rev. Michael G. Sharpe, Stated Clerk, mgs@cumberland.org. Submissions must be received no later than 5 pm (CDT) on January 15, 2013. Incomplete or late application packets will not be considered.
An interview panel will conduct preliminary interviews in February 2013. The OUO Committee will meet with applicants considered to be “finalists” in March 2013. The successful candidate will begin work in April/May of 2013, following satisfactory completion of a background check. In addition to the requirements noted in the job description, the following position competencies will be important:

This position does not require the individual to live in the Memphis area. If the OUO Coordinator opts to live outside the Memphis area s/he will maintain an office in a location mutually agreed upon with the OUO Committee, providing easy and economical access where work is anticipated. Potential expenses incurred with an off-site office will be discussed during interview.
