Red River Presbytery - Minister absent
- J. W. Vance
On motion the following preamble
and resolution were adopted; viz.
Whereas there
exists a portion of Texas Presbytery too much isolated to be occupied
successfully and Whereas Red-River Presbytery has a territory
too extensive for convenience and Whereas the brethren residing
in the territory purposed to be cut off have expressed a wish
to that effect therefore
Resolved that we divide
Red-River and Texas Presbyteries and of said parts form a new
Presbytery to be known as White-Rock Presbytery of the Cumberland
Presbyterian Church and bounded as follows viz: Beginning on Red
river on the County line between Grayson & Fannin Counties
thence south with the line dividing said Counties to the South
West corner of Fannin County thence East with the South line of
Fannin County to the South East corner of Collin County thence
South with the line dividing Collin & Hunt Counties to the
Southwest corner of Hunt County thence East with the South line
of Hunt County to where said line crosses the Sabine river thence
down said river to the corner of Trinity Presbytery Thence West
with the Trinity Presbytery line to Buffalo on Trinity river thence
up said river along Elm fork indefinitely and that the first sessions
of said Presbytery be held at the residence of Rev. W. B. Wear
Sen. and that said W. B. Wear be the first moderator and J.
N. Vance his alternate and J. M. Watkins clerk to meet on
thursday at 11 O'Clock A M. before the 2d Sab. in November, 1854.
