REED.-- Rev. H. W. Reed was born January 20, 1827; died February
20, 1903. He professed religion in 1844; joined the Cumberland
Presbyterian Church in 1845; joined Lebanon
Presbytery in 1847, and was licensed to preach September
1, 1849. He was ordained in 1852. For more than fifty years he
was a faithful servant of his Master. He leaves a wife and daughter
to mourn their loss. For several years he was an invalid and suffered
untold misery, but always expressed himself as ready to go at
the call of the Master. At last, when the summons came, "Come
up higher," a smile played across his face, and he peacefully
and calmly passed into that glory land. To the wife and daughter
I would say, "Mourn thou not for him, for our loss is his
gain." He is now "safe in the arms of Jesus."--T.
Atkins Mitchell.
