Memorial services for the Rev. S. Q. Proctor, a Cumberland Presbyterian minister, will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at the Anderson Clayton Brothers Funeral Home in Mesquite.
Mr. Proctor, 81, died Saturday of a stroke at Mesquite Community Hospital.
The native of Scottsboro, Ala., started his career in the ministry in his early 20s after graduating from Bethel College in McKenzie, Tenn. He moved to Mesquite 12 years ago after living in East Texas for 46 years.
Mr. Proctor became pastor at Mesquite Cumberland Presbyterian Church in 1980. He retired three years ago.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine Proctor of Mesquite; a brother, Walter Proctor of Scottsboro, Ala.; and two sisters, Nola Simmons and Marjorie Keller, both of Scottsboro, Ala.
Memorials may be made to the Cumberland Presbyterian Childrens Home in Denton.
