CRAIGE (RBJ note: I think this is Rachel A. PARRISH CRAIGE the sister of Aaron James PARRISH) aged 64, a resident of Omega (RBJ note: This place no longer exist. I think it was at the current intersection of State Hwys 46 & 49), in the county of Houston and State of Tennessee.
The following is a handwritten statement: "That she was personally acquainted with Aaron J. PARRISH and his first wife, lived near them for a number of years, was present at the death of his first wife (RBJ note: Rebecca Caroline DICKSON, dau. of Hugh DICKSON) and followed the remains to the grave and saw them deposited in the vault. This occurred September 10th 1864. Aaron J. PARRISH afterward married Sallie B. BELL about the 2nd of Feb. 1865. And the said Aaron J. PARRISH died Dec. 22nd 1888. And was present at his burial. This affidavit was dictated by the witness R. H. CRAIGE and she being unable to write down her statements called upon W. H. RICE (RBJ note: A. J. PARRISH'S son-in-law) to commit the same to writing and that she was not aided nor prompted by any written statement or dictated by any other person but were facts of her own knowledge: And that the said W. H. RICE committed the same to writing at his house in my presence all in the county of Houston and state of Tenn. The day it bears date.

State of Tennessee, County of Houston SS. In the matter of Sallie B. PARRISH being the widow of A. J. PARRISH who served in the Florida War and his death.
On 29 April, 1893 personally appeared before W. H. RICE a Justice of the Peace, Solon ADKINS aged 49 years a resident of the 6th Dis. of Houston County, State of Tennessee whose post office address is Omega, Tenn. and V. S. ALLEN aged 44, a resident of the 6th District of Houston County, State of Tennessee whose post office address is Omega, Tenn.
The following is a handwritten statement: "That they were personally acquainted with Aaron J. PARRISH and that they are at this time acquainted with Sallie B. PARRISH the widow of the said Aaron J. PARRISH who has applied for a pension under the Act of July 27th, 1892. Pensioning the Florida War soldiers & their widows. And we lived near them for years and were their neighbors since the late war: And that Aaron J. PARRISH's life and character was ????? and good he being loved by all who knew him. He was a farmer and a minister of the gospel of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. And was well known by all in all of the adjoining counties and he died on or about the 22nd day of Dec. 1888 at his home in Houston County and was buried the following day near his residence by the Masonic order we being a witness to his burial. And the said Sallie B. PARRISH his widow is now living and has never been since his death married to any other person. "We also will state that these facts can be corroborated by hundreds of others, by some of the clerks in the different counties and especially the county clerks of Dickson & Houston Counties. And we will further state that the said Sallie B. PARRISH is worthy and needs the help proposed by the government. Signed April 29, 1893. They further declare they have no interest in said case and are not concerned in its prosecution.

On 9 May, 1893 personally appeared before A. J. COOKSY a Justice of the Peace, P. A. DANIEL aged 65 years a resident of Danielsville, Dickson County, State of Tennessee whose post office address is Danielsville, Tenn. and F. N. MILLS aged 66, a resident of Danielsville, Dickson County, State of Tennessee whose post office address is Danielsville, Tenn.
The following is a handwritten statement: That from the best of their recollection and belief they were attending the high school at Cloverdale in the County of Dickson and state of Tennessee in 1844 & 5 in charge of W. B. BELL. During that time W. S. BELL a relative of W. B. BELL came from Pennsylvania to Cloverdale, remained there some time and the records show that ?W. S. BELL and Miss Sallie B. BELL, sister of W. B. BELL, were married on the 5th January 1845. They then left Cloverdale and went to Kentucky, remained there about 2 years. on their return to Cloverdale by river when the boat got opposite that place, Mrs. Sallie B. BELL got of the boat and returned to Cloverdale. Mr. W. S, BELL, her husband, remained on board the boat and went on up the river toward Nashville and his has never been seen or heard of since that time by his wife or any of her relatives. Mrs. Sallie B. BELL then remained a widow some 18 years; And marriage license granted in Dickson County and she was then married to Aaron J. PARRISH and lived with him until his death which occurred about the 22 or 23 of Dec. 1888; We further state that she has never been married to any other person. We further declare that we have no interest in said case and are not concerned with its prosecution.

PARRISH enrolled June 14, 1836 at Charlotte, Tenn and discharged Jany. 14, 1837 at New Orleans, LA.He was paid from June 14, 1835 to Jany. 14, 1837, 7 months and also 35 days travel, 110 miles to place of rendezvous and 620 miles from place of discharge home. No evidence of hostile engagement.
The company was ordered in tot he service of the United States by the Secretary of War June 25/38 for 5 months.
The rolls do not show whether or not the Co. was at the seat of War for 30 days. Soldier's name on roll was evidently signed for him.

The following is a handwritten statement: That it is impossible under the present statement of facts, for her to furnish any more or stronger testimoney in regard to the death of her first husband, W. G. BELL, than she alread furnished by the evidence of P. A. DANIEL and F. N. MILLS. That she has not seen or heard of him since they parted on the steam boat on Cumberland River between Clarksville and Nashville over forty years ago, and she knows of no other person having seen or heard of him. If he ever returned to Philadelphia whence he originally coame she nor any of her relatives have ever been informed of that fact. Consequently she cand furnish no more proof in the Case.

(RBJ note: The top of the form did not copy because a piece of paper covered it) However, it's the same wording as previously shown and it is the statement of Sallie B. PARRISH age 82, a resident of Danielsville, in the County of Dickson and State of Tennessee.
The following is a handwritten statement: My last husband was 72 years old at his death. Was about 5 feet, 9 or 10 in. high. He was fair coomplected, dark hair and blue eyes. The no. of his land warrant was 11231. The enclosed title Bond was assigned by him at the time of its date and is a fair specimin of his hand writing. We (first husband) had had (RBJ note: repeated word) been married about two years living in Kentucky. We started to visit realitives. I stopped between Clarksville and Nashville Tennessee, left him aboard a steam boat on the Cumberland River. He remained on the boat; went on to visit his relatives in Pitsburg, Pennsylvania. I came to my Bro's in Dickson County. I never heard of him since that time. There was no cause for his continued absence that I ever knew of. We lived happily together. There was inquires made by writing to relatives and friends: No information from friends or relatives was ever received: I lived a widow abut 18 or so years and was married t Aaron J. PARRISH.

Land warrant is recorded in Vol. 139, Pge 446. I further state that W. H. RICE done this by my direction.

Sam'l CUMMINS has this day purchased of me for sixty dollars the receipt hereof is hear by acknowledged. A certain bounty land claim calling for 80 acres. 12. Claim of Widow for Service Pension Under Act of July 27, 1892Form to be executed before some officer authorized to administer oaths for general purposes.

On 31 Oct. 1892, personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace for the said county, Sallie PARRISH aged 81, a resident of Dickson County in Tennessee who swears that she is the widow of Aaron J. PARRISH who served under the name of Aaron J. PARRISH as a private in the company commanded by Capt. TATOM; in the 2nd Regt. of Tennessee Volunteers commanded by Wm. TROUSDEL, in the Florida War. She said her husband enlisted at Charlotte, TN; on or about 22nd day of June, 1836 for the term of 6 months and was discharged at New Orleans on or about the 10th day of January, 1837.
At the time of entering service said husband was 20 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches in height, with blue eyes, dark hair, and fair complexion. Occupation was farmer & minister. He was born in Dickson County, TN.
She was marred to him on 2nd day of Feb. 1865 at W. B. BELL, by John McCLURKIN, minister of the gospel under the name Sallie BELL. He had previously been married to Caroline DICKSON (RBJ note: Rebecca Caroline DICKSON, dau. of Hugh DICKSON & Hannah HICKS) who died 10 Sept. 1864. She had previously been married to William G. BELL who died on the _____day of ____, 1848
Her husband died at his home on 23rd day of December, 1888.
She swears that she has not made application for pension before. She has not made application for bounty land. That her husband has not made application for pension. That he did make application for bounty land, the number of his warrant being 11231.
She swears she is a citizen of the U. S. and appoints Soule & Co., of Washington, DC her true and lawful attorneys. Her post office address is Danielsville, Dickson County, Tenn.

On the 19th day of Sept., 1893 personally appeared before me a Justice of the Peace in said county, Sallie B. PARRISH aged 82 years, resident of 6th District in the County of Houston and state of Tennessee, whose Post Office address is Danielsville, Dickson County and who being sworn, declares that Sallie B. PARRISH, applicant for pension No. 2603 request special consideration of the claim by the Honorable Commissioner of Pensions."That I am eighty two years of age and am very feeble; and health not good. I am feeble minded and for these reasons am dependent upon relatives to care for me."

Neighbor's Affidavit
On this 19th day of Sept. 1893 personally appeared before me a Justice of the Peace in the said county, W. H. FROST (RBJ note: Not sure about last name and think the initials should be W. A.) aged 84 years, a resident of Edgewood in Dickson County, Tennessee and P. H. (RBJ note: Think the initials should be P. A.) aged 66 years, a resident of Danielsville, in Dickson County, Tennessee. They are well known to me to be reputable and entitled to credit. They swear they have been well and personally acquainted with Sallie B. PARRISH for 30 years and 50 years respectively. They corroborate the statement made by Sallie B. PARRISH in the foregoing affidavit and fully endorse the statement made by her in such affidavit from a personal knowledge of these facts.They further declare that we have no interest in said case and are not concerned in its prosecution.
