Birdie Lee Pallette

Cumberland Presbyterian Minister

1885 - 1971

Reverend Miss Birdie Lee Pallette

1885 - 1971

Birdie Lee Pallette was born October 29, 1885, four miles north of Oak Grove, Missouri, a daughter of Erasmus J. and Harriett Renick Pallette. After several years of failing health, she went to her Eternal Reward on October 27, 1971.

At the age of 19, she was converted and united with the Pleasant Prairie Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

On October 4 [sic: 1], 1916, at the Lobb Church, she was ordained to the ministry, and during the 55 years that followed, she served faithfully and well, in a number of pastorates in Lexington, McGee-New Lebanon, and Platte-Lexington Presbyteries.

Miss Pallette was a woman of deep convictions, and her life was fully dedicated to serving her Lord. She spent many years studying, and received a Bachelor of Divinity Degree at Bethel College in 1913, a Degree for Christian Workers at Scarritt Bible and Training School in 1921, and a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree at the State College at Warrensburg in 1933. She also did graduate work at Vanderbilt, Colorado and Illinois universities. For awhile, in addition to preaching, she taught in several Missouri high schools, and in the Cumberland Presbyterian Chinese Mission in San Francisco. She was well equipped, spiritually and mentally, to serve her fellow man.

"Miss Birdie's" dedicated life will continue to inspire and enrich the lives of countless people.

"Well done, thou good and faithful servant."

The Woman's Synodic Convention of Missouri. Met at Pertle Springs. August 27, 1909.
"The Consecration Service, conducted by Mrs. H. S. McCord before the Synod of Missouri on Friday morning, Aug. 27, was impressive and beautiful in its every detail. When an offering of silver and gold was taken $67.00 was laid on the altar. But the greatest and most beautiful in the sight of God was the life offering laid on His altar by Miss Birdie Pallette of Oak Grove, Mo. We pray God's richest blessings on this young live He has called into His service, and that her works may reap a harvest of souls for His kingdom."

Report of Committee on Examination - read and adopted.
"Moderator and members of Lexington Presbytery. Brethren your committee on examination of Probationers for the Ministry have had before us Miss Birdie Pallette of Pleasant Prairie congregation a probationer for the Ministry and under the care of Lexington Presbytery, and find in our examination, that said probationer has studied all those parts of trial for licensure and ordination. We have examined her on all parts of trial as required by the confession of Faith, and find her up on all except two works but find she has a very good knowledge of these two branches; sufficient that we feel safe in recommending her for licensure and ordination at this meeting of Presbytery. That she be Licensed at 5:30 this afternoon.--Bro. Petty to officiate.
The ordination shall take place tomorrow at eleven that the Moderator appoint some one to preach the sermon and some one to preside and deliver the charge.--S. H. McElvain, J. A. Bozarth, J. E. Eberts.
