
Rev. George P. McIlwain of Dyer, Tenn., died December 22, at the age of 79. He had spent 50 years in the active ministry of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church before his retirement. He had lived in Dyer for 58 years and had served Cumberland Presbyterian churches in many parts of West Tennessee.
The funeral was held in the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Dyer with the pastor, Rev. John W. Stiles, officiating, assisted by Rev. Bobby J. Scobey of Memphis.
Ministers serving as pallbearers were Revs. D. K. Richardson, Carl Davis, Oren Stover, Robert Forester, Scott Johnson and B. J. Hancock.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Rhyther Bradshaw McIlwain,
four daughters, Mrs. Marguerite Douglass, Mrs. Rebecca Sharp,
Mrs. Georgia Ellis and Mrs. Julia Bailey, all of Dyer; a son,
John W. McIlwain of Dyer, and one sister.
