"Pres. passed the following preamble and resolutions,(to wit) whereas common fame renders it necessary for the Pres. to inquire into the doctrines and conduct of Br. T. B. McCormick,
1st Resolved that this Pres. proceed to the investigation of the reports in circulation in Reference to the teaching and conduct of said Br. T. B. McCormick.
2d Resolved that a committee of 5 be appointed, who shall carefully inquire into the truth of said reports, and if they find them to be true & deserving censure that they prefer charges make specification & report the same to Pres. But if otherwise that they report accordingly,
3d Resolved that said com. enter upon the duties assigned them as soon as practicable, & after a thorough investigation of the whole matter if they find it necessary to prefer charges against Br. T. B. McCormick they shall then inform the Moderator, who shall call a meeting of the Pres. according to the Provisions of the Discipline to consider said charges.
On motion Brs. Wm. McClesky, B. Hall, Wm. C. M. Green, M. T. Carnahan, [elder from Mt. Pleasant congregation] & J. C. Henson [elder from Evansville congregation] were appointed said committee."
