"An
opportunity was given for those who might wish to converse with
Presbytery on the subject of an internal call to the work of the
ministry. Whereupon, Wm. A. Moore, Jas. Witt, and C. G. Kennedy
came forward and related their religious experience and impressions
to preach the gospel and were received as probationers for the
ministry under the care of this Presbytery.

"At
Mt. Zion Church, Hickman County, Ky., the 25th day of March, 1873,
the Presbytery of Obion, having received testimonials in favor
of Bro. C. G. Kennedy of his good moral character, of his being
in the communion of the church proceeded to take the usual parts
of trial for his licensure, and he having given satisfaction as
to his aptness to teach as to his acquaintance with experimental
religion, as to his internal call to the work of the Ministry,
and as to his proficiency in divinity, the Presbytery did, and
does hereby give its approbation of all these parts trial, and
he having adopted the Confession of Faith and satisfactorily answered
the questions appointed to be put to the candidates to be licensed,
the Presbytery did and does hereby, license him, the C. G.
Kennedy, to preach the gospel of Christ, as a probate of the
Holy Ministry within the bounds of this Presbytery, or wherever
God in his providence, may call him."
