Obituary of Rufus Harrison Foster
FOSTER.--Rufus H. Foster died July 3, 1896, at Lebanon, Tenn.,
being within a little of 82 years old. He was born in Wilson County,
and professed religion in the old Cumberland Presbyterian Church
at Lebanon in 1836, during the pastorate of Rev.
George Donnell. For many years he was an active and efficent
ruling elder in the church at Bethesda--long ago so famous as
the place of great camp-meetings. His colleagues in the eldership
long since preceded him to the heavenly home. The last fifteen
or twenty years of his life his membership was in the church at
Lebanon, where he lived. His influence in everything was always
on the right side.
