Committee on Judiciary: "We understand that a Licentiate of this Presbytery has been received and ordained by Salem Presbytery without a letter from this Presbytery. Your Stated Clerk has been directed to inquire into this matter. The Stated Clerk read the correspondence from the Stated Clerk of Salem Presbytery, regarding their action in the case of Bro. G. W. Dobbs which was referred to the Committee on Judiciary."
Report No. 2 of the Committee on Judiciary: "We have examined the correspondence between D. W. Cheek S. C. of this Pres. and W. D. Hawkins S. C. of Salem Presbytery referred to us which correspondence relates to the case of Bro. G. W. Dobbs, a licentiate of this Presbytery. The correspondence develops this fact. That Bro. G. W. Dobbs on moving out of the bounds of our (Ozark) Presbytery obtained a certificate of his standing as a Licensed Minister in Ozark Presbytery from Bro. Vannice Chairman of the Committee on Literature and Theology which letter was signed by Bro. Vannice and Bro. Garrett members of said Committee. This letter was presented to Salem Presbytery whereupon Bro. Dobbs was received the Presbytery not noticing that the letter was from the Committee instead of the Presbytery. It is our spinion that none of the Brethren did wrong intentionally, but through mistake. We threfore recommend that this Presbytery concur in and ratify the action of Salem Presbytery. Be it remembered however that we regard the action as extremely irregular and all such mistakes should be guarded against in the future with great care that we may avoid confusion in our work."
