Rev. and Mrs. Elbert L. Conyers were officially commissioned Sunday evening, September 29, 1929, to missionary service in South America under the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. They sailed on the steamer "Parismina" October 5 and will arrive about October 21.

Rev. Elbert L. Conyers, former missionary of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church to Colombia, S. A. died February 23 in Tyler, Texas, following an extended illness. He had been an assistant pastor at the Tyler First Methodist church for a number of years.

Mr. Conyers and his wife, Mrs. Pearl Howell Conyers, were among the first Cumberland Presbyterian missionaries to go to Colombia. They first went to Colombia in 1929 and altogether served approximately ten years. Mr. Conyers was in charge of building the first mission building in Cali, the Colegio Americano.

Dr. Jose Fajardo, a director of Colegio Americano commenting on the death of Mr. Conyers noted that he was deeply loved and appreciated by Colombian people and that he rendered an outstanding contribution to the establishment of the work.

His wife and one son, Thomas Conyers, survive.
