The Saint James Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America was organized in 1920, at the Odd Fellows Hall in Princeton, Kentucky, but the actual building of the church did not occur until 1925. The late Rev. C. G. Rowlette was the first pastor, and he served for two years. The church elders were Elders Harrison Tinsley, John Leach, Will Bumphus, Henry Black, and Henry Dooley, In 1927, Rev. J. N. Tinsley became pastor and the officers were Elders Roy Tinsley, Arthur Pettie, Dixie Copeland, Arthur Wharton, Octagon Brasher, Clinton McGowan, and Charles Tinsley. Rev. Tinsley served as pastor for forty-three years and during his pastorate, Saint James was able to get rid of its old coal and wood stove, as well as installed indoor restroom facilities. After Rev. Tinsley resigned, Rev. H. T. Ray served as pastor for one year. After the death of Rev. Ray, the Rev. Charles Carver became pastor and served for two years. Rev. Carver and Sister Louis Hallowell organized the Youth Choir in 1973. In 1974, Rev. Oscar Powell, Sr., became the pastor.

Saint James Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America has worship services four Sundays each month and Bible Study on the first and third Monday nights. Sister Ophilia Tinsley organized the Bible Study. The annual days are: Church Anniversary (3rd Sunday in March), Women's Day (4th Sunday in June), Homecoming (3rd Sunday in August), and Pastor's Anniversary (3rd Sunday in November) Christmas Program (3rd Sunday in December).

Sister Dora Burke and Sister Cecilia Powell are in charge of the Youth Choir Day. They also work with the young people in preparing them for Christmas and Easter programs. Sister Powell serves as the church pianist. Sister Burke has a Bible study with the youth of Saint James Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America and the community on Wednesday nights. These ladies also coordinate a trip for the youth each summer.

The oldest members are Sister Dorothy Tinsley, Mother Violet Copeland, Elder Burnace Hughes, Elder Pearl Smith, Sister Laura Thompson, and Sister Sarah Copeland. The members with the longest membership are, Elder Pearl Smith, Sister Laura Thompson and Sister Sara Copeland.

Saint James purchased a house and lot adjacent to the church. The house was torn down and plans are to erect at Fellowship Hall on the lot. The Saint James church family says: "we have done a lot of work on our church, but we have a long way to go. We are few in number but with God on our side, we will reach our goal."
