The oldest church in the East Texas Presbytery is in Nacogdoches, Texas. The church was organized in 1869 or 1870, under the name of Union Liberian. The Rev. Horney Cleaver, Rev. Mack Burr, and Rev. Bonaparte were worshipping and supporting the Union Church founded by Rev. Lawson Reed, located on the Saint Paul Cemetery plot. Later, they along with Rev. E. Burrough and others, met and organized the Union Liberian Cumberland Presbyterian. In more recent years, the name was changed to Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Nacogdoches, Texas.
