Rev. James Myart, Sr. and Sister Inez E. Myart organized the Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America in 1958. The exact date is unknown. The current pastor is Rev. Harold R. Myart, Sr. and the former pastor was Rev. James W. Mart, Sr.
The Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America was formerly named Second Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The pastor was requested by the Brazos River Presbytery to remove the word "second." In response to that request the church became known as Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America. In 1997, the pastor, Rev. Harold R. Myart called a session and asked all members to decide on a first name for the church. Several nominations were made and a paper vote was taken. Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church became the new name.
The organization of the church is the Women's Missionary Society. Sister Janet W. Prince-Page is the church clerk.
