The cumberlist is a discussion or chat list maintained by the boards
and agencies of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church Center and is
intended for the use of Cumberland Presbyterians and other interested
parties. The list is provided free of charge and is hosted by Computer
Services of the Cumberland Presbyterian Center. It started in the
mid-1990s as an experiment to see if our mail server would run the
software necessary to support e-mail lists. It proved to be a success
and is now enjoyed or at least tolerated by about 350 Cumberland
Presbyterians across the denomination. Cumberlist is not archived or
moderated.
Subscribers to the cumberlist are encouraged to sign all of their
messages. Although there is, on occasion, a place for anonimity, users
of cumberlist who make provocative statements without revealing their
identity may be dropped from our database. It is expected that
subscribers be tolerant of the views of others while maintaing the
standards of a Christian community. Moderation in all things is
expected.
How to Send a Message
Posting to the cumberlist is as simple as sending an e-mail message.
There are, however, a few rules that must be followed.
Send the post from your own e-mail address! Addresses
that are not in our database are not allowed to post.
Address the message to: cumberlist@cumberland.org
or cumberlist@googlegroups.com
Remember that responses to cumberlist posts are directed to the
entire list by default. In order to reply to the sender only it is
necessary to readdress the response.
