ENDOWMENT GIVING OPPORTUNITIES

What Will Happen to the Stewardship of my Possessions after my Death?

Unless you have arranged thorugh a will, trust, or insurance policy to distribute your possessions, the state in which you are a legal resident at the time of your death will make those arrangements for you. If that should happen, none of your friends, nor your Church nor any of your favorite charities would receive anything. Certain relatives would automatically receive a fixed percentage of the value of your estate. In addition, the court would appoint a bonded administrator and your estate will have to pay the bonding fee. If you should leave children who are minors, the court would also appoint their guardian.

Visit your lawyer now to have your will drafted or updated before it is too late. For more information on preparing and revising a will, contact your Planned Giving Coordinator (East TN/TN-GA--Carolyn Harmon, TN Synod--Dara Jones, AR/MO/Red River/Trinity--Gaye Wood) or the Board of Stewardship office.
