WOMEN'S MINISTRY SPECIAL PROJECTS & OFFERINGS

Convention recommends annual Women's Ministry Special Projects to which the women of the churches can make a financial contribution as a visible expression of our corporate ministry. The 2009-2010 projects are:

Project # 1 –Scholarships for Spanish-speaking Students (PAS students)
This project will enable Spanish-speaking students from outside the US to attend the Program of Alternate studies in order to further their theological education by attending the Summer Extension School on the campus of Bethel College. This project will provide scholarship assistance to cover actual tuition costs for these students and who have little or no individual church support. Project #2 – Africans in Mission Fund
This project will help to provide tent-making income for African leaders who are called to serve on the mission fields of Zambia. In working through CP missionaries, Peter and Debi Drypolcher, Frontier Missions Centre will be the location for this unique type of training and income-generating project. Make checks payable to "Missions Ministry Team, 8207 Traditional Place, Cordova, TN 38016-7414. Please indicate that it is for project #510-99-0213.

2010 Convention Offering – Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Mexico
There will one day be a Cumberland Presbyterian Church located in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico! Women's Ministry will have a vital role in that goal. There is already land purchased for the future church. Funds are now needed to purchase building materials and begin the building process of the church and educational/community building. Work teams from the US will be used to help construct this building. The goal for Women's Ministry in 2010 is $20,000. Make checks payable to "Missions Ministry Team, 8207 Traditional Place, Cordova, TN 38016-7414. Please indicate that it is for project #504-00-0000.

CP Women's Ministry/Beverly St. John Bethel College Scholarship Endowment
This endowment was established in 1976, in honor of Beverly St. John for service given by her to the CPW. A scholarship is to be awarded annually by Bethel College to a young woman going into full time Christian service. Any woman who is planning to enter the ordained Christian ministry, the field of Christian education, the area of music ministry and other related fields will be eligible for the scholarship of $1,500. All Contributions should be mailed to the Board of Missions, 1978 Union Ave., Memphis, TN 38104-4134.
Please make check payable to the Board of Missions and designate for the “CP Women’s Ministry Bethel College Scholarship Endowment”.

WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP FUND
This endowment provides leadership development opportunities for women throughout the denomination. Workshops, retreats, seminars, and conferences on both regional and denominational levels help to achieve the goals of leadership development. Part of this endowment is held in trust, and only the earnings may be used. This will insure leader development funds for current use as well as for future generations.  All Contributions should be mailed to the Board of Missions, 1978 Union Ave., Memphis, TN 38104-4134. Please make check payable to the Board of Missions and designate for the Women's Ministry Leadership Fund.


CORNELIA SWAIN WOMEN'S MINISTRY ENDOWMENT FUND
This endowment was established in 1996 to fund much-needed financial resources for women's ministry. This fund was created to also recognize the works of faith and the labor of love of Cornelia Swain, who has served in women's ministry since May 1, 1977.  All Contributions should be mailed to the Board of Missions, 1978 Union Ave., Memphis, TN 38104-4134. Please make check payable to the Board of Missions and designate for the Cornelia Swain Endowment Fund.

 

ENDOWMENT GIFTS

Please secure an application and return it with your check or money order for Golden Patron, Silver Patron, Patron, Diamond Perpetual or Perpetual memberships. All memberships should be sent to Board of Missions, 1978 Union Avenue, Memphis, TN 38104-4134 (unless it is for another board or agency). Women making such a contribution, or honored by the bestowal of a membership, will be seated as official delegates in their respective regional meetings and the Convention. Only one name is placed on each membership to the Board of Missions.

Golden Patron Membership Endowment Fund
A gift of $150 to the Board of Missions entitles the donor or person being honored to receive a certificate of recognition from the Board of Missions. The Golden Patron membership is to be bestowed on a woman who has served 50 years or more in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church or Women's Ministry.

Silver Patron Membership Endowment Fund
A gift of $125 to the Board of Missions entitles the donor or person being honored to receive a certificate of recognition from the Board of Missions. The Silver Patron membership is to be bestowed on a woman who has served 25 years or more in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church or Women's Ministry.

Patron Membership Endowment Fund
A Gift of $100 to the Board of Missions entitles the donor or person being honored to receive a certificate of recognition from the Board of Missions.

Diamond Perpetual Membership Endowment Fund
A gift of $50 to the Board of Missions entitles the donor to receive a certificate of recognition from the Board of Missions. The Diamond Perpetual membership may be bestowed on any person of any age for 10 or more years of service in Women's Ministry and/or the church.

Perpetual Membership Endowment Fund
A gift of $30 to the Board of Missions entitles the donor to receive a certificate of recognition from the Board of Missions.

ECUMENICAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR GIVING

Fellowship of the Least Coin
For only a penny and a prayer a month, Cumberland Presbyterian Women's Ministry can become participants in the Fellowship of the Least Coin—a Fellowship that unites Christian women all over the world in prayerful concern for one another.  For Cumberland Presbyterian Women, the setting aside of a "least coin" and a special prayer may be an individual experience in the home, or a corporate experience at a Women's Ministry or circle meeting each month.  The gathering of the coins is a part of the spring regional program. The check should be sent by June 1, to FLC, Church Women United, 475 Riverside Dr., Suite 1626, New York, NY 10115. A check for the total amount received is sent to the International Committee for FLC which serves as administrator of the fund that is used to give assistance to Christian schools, hospitals, and institutions throughout the world.
 

The American Bible Society
In appreciation for what the American Bible Society is doing for Christian mission throughout the world in translation, publication, and distribution of the Scriptures, Cumberland Presbyterian Women's Ministry are being asked to make a contribution to the American Bible Society in October.  This offering should be sent directly to the American Bible Society, 1865 Broadway FL 4, New York, NY 10023-7505. Be sure to include the name of your organization and denomination to assure proper credit.
