Japan Presbytery
Japan is an island country in Asia, just off the mainland, across from the Korean Peninsula. It has a population of about 127 million people — but only about 1% are Christians.
Cumberland Presbyterian mission work began in Japan in the year 1877 when the Rev. J.B. Hail, along with his brother A.D. Hail, came to Osaka, supported by the Cumberland Presbyterian Women's Ministry. After the turmoil of WWII, a congregation was organized and the first Sunday service of the Koza Community church was held in January 19, 1947.
Thanks to God, Japan now has 13 Cumberland Presbyterian churches.
