Uganda Rose

We are back in beautiful Uganda! I am so amazed at how fresh and lush everything looks here. I have enjoyed my roses in my small but beautiful rose garden. I love to look out my bedroom window and gaze upon the vibrant color of the bougainvillea; lush pink and orange. I am amazed once again just how God created all of this by speaking it into existence and He did it for you and me. What a blessing He is to me.

I am reminded of a song we use to sing at church camp. "I love Him better every D-A-Y. I love Him better every D-A-Y. Close by His S-I-D-E, I will A-B-I-D-E. I love Him better every D-A-Y!" My Jesus is filling me up each day and I love him better every day!

We have been back to our field of service for almost 6 weeks now and it didn’t take long to get back into the swing of things.  In fact we went to a board meeting 1 weeter we got back.  We were jet lagged, so we probably won’t remember what all went on in the meeting, but that is beside the point; we’re back!.  I am deep into my ministry at the school.  There were a lot of changes that took place while I was gone.  Some were good changes and others were just changed because no one knew how to do it or what to do.  I spent the first week or more just “cleaning house”; files, papers, boxes of stuff that found its way to my desk.  This week the computer repair guy has come to my desk a few times and I think things are starting work the way they are supposed to.  I have been given a new responsibility on our field since we came back.  I am now the VIA coordinator.  This means when we have volunteers who want to come, I am in charge of correspondence with the individuals and helping them with their schedules once they arrive.  We have one volunteer coming in April and several coming in the summer.  If you or someone you know would like to come to Uganda for a time let me know and we can see where we can plug you in.  God is at work in Uganda and being a part of what is going on will open your eyes to amazing things.

Kenneth is forging straight ahead with the printing that needs to be done.  He has been given the ok to begin working on our garage for the future printing ministry.   He needs the space even now, before he has the funds to purchase equipment.  The Lord continues to supply printing jobs for him to do and it keeps him very busy.  He has already printed many pastor’s training lessons.  He has lots to do yet and is glad to be used by God for His ministry.  He has also started weekly printing jobs for Heritage International School.  Besides his printing ministry, he has been given several other responsibilities on the field.  He is in charge of making sure the guards for all of our missionaries are in place and if they have called in sick, he must find replacements.  He will also visit monthly, one of our village training centers in a place called Kayunga, outside Kampala about 1 ½ hours.  God is using Kenneth’s amazing talents for Himself.  I am sure he has talents yet to be found, too.

One area of great importance right now is finding a vehicle.   Back in late December, while we were still in the States, our Nissan Mistral was involved in a train accident.  The missionaries here, who were driving it at the time, are doing well and were not hurt badly.  For this we praise Jesus.  Now that we are back, we have been looking for a different vehicle.  Please pray with us to find just the right vehicle that our Lord, the provider of all good things, will provide for us.  We have looked at many different ones and nothing has been in our price range or the ‘one’ we feel we are to buy.  Pray for clear direction in purchasing a vehicle.  We have to have one with 4 wheel drive, air conditioning, large enough for our family and also for Kenneth to deliver printed materials and purchase printing paper and supplies.  Thank you for lifting this need to the Lord.

Kaleb, Austin and Emilee are back into school and like it a lot.  They are enjoying meeting new friends and building new relationships with them and having a great time with old friends, too.  Kaleb is no longer the only boy in his class.  There are 3 other boys in his class now.  You won’t believe this…he isn’t the only Kaleb.  He is having a great time getting to know Caleb (with a C).  They both like a lot of the same things.  God is blessing Kaleb.

Austin is having a great time with his buddies.  His friend Jordan was gone all last school year.  His parents are colleagues of ours and they were on their home ministry assignment.  Austin has a couple of other friends, as well, too.  One in particular is a bird watcher, just likeAustin.  They love to study up on the birds around here.  That should keep them quite busy!

Emilee is beginning to build a relationship with a little girl in her class.  They actually look a lot a like.  She misses her Melissa and Kerith (friends she has had in the past, that will always be close to her heart), but the Lord is blessing her with another friend.  Isn’t it wonderful how God brings people into our lives with whom we can share our life experiences?  God knows we need people and He provides us with dear, dear friends.

This letter could not be complete without thanking each and every one of you for your prayers and your gifts of love to get us back to our field of service.   In all the times we have raised our funds for ministry; it has never come in so quickly.  Thank you for your sacrificial giving.  Thank you for your support in what the Lord has called us to do.  Thank you for blessing us so much.
