CP Church Aids Earthquake Victims in Chile
The Missions Ministry Team, on behalf of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church sent $10,000 in relief aid to assist the earthquake victims in Chile. The Funds have been distributed through Church World Service (CWS) responding to emergency needs and relief efforts in Chile.
CP Disaster Relief Funds were made available from the 25 percent portion of the One Great Hour of Sharing and the Loaves and Fishes offerings retained by the Missions Ministry Team for distribution in times of emergency. Click here for general information on Disaster Relief Funds (pdf).
You Can Still Help!
• Make a donation. Additional contributions for relief aid may be sent to the Missions Ministry Team • 8207 Traditional Place • Cordova, TN 38016 (designate: “Chile Relief”).
• Assemble Supplies. CWS has issued an urgent appeal for donations of Hygiene and Baby Care Kits, asking individuals, families and congregations and civic groups to assemble CWS Kits for distribution to survivors of the Chile earthquake and other global disasters.
The need for Kits is immediate. “When a disaster like the earthquake in Haiti hits, we have to replenish supplies very quickly so that we can both assist survivors and also have supplies on hand to help victims of other disasters that might occur,” says Rev. Haiti Update: The Cumberland Presbyterian Church, has sent over $54,314.09 (as of 2/27/2010) in relief aid to assist the earthquake victims in Haiti. These funds have been distributed through Church World Service responding to emergency needs and relief efforts in Haiti.
