Through a Child's Eyes
For many years, the March of Missions season from Easter to Pentecost (April 16 through June 4, 2006) has been set aside as a time for denominational-wide missions emphasis. World Mission Day, observed on Pentecost Sunday, June 4, culminates this celebration of missions. Your congregation can make March of Missions and World Mission Day special by designating the season and the day as a time for mission emphasis. The theme for the 2006 March of Missions is "Through A Child's Eye."
We invite you during March of Missions to take some time to consider life through the eyes of some of the most vulnerable and marginalized people in our world. Reflecting Through a Child's Eyes is a resource that can help congregations do just that...take a look at the world through the eyes of a child who is an immigrant, or a Muslim, or abused. There are eight children highlighted in this resource with accompanying reflection/discussion questions. There are a variety of ways in which to fully use this re source...
- Sunday Morning Worship Service — during the Prayer of Confession or Prayers of the People read the child's story and invite worshippers to silently reflect upon the questions provided. There are photographs to help in this time of prayer and reflections provided through a link below.
- Sunday School classes
- Women's Ministry groups
- Youth Fellowship studies
- Missions and Outreach Committee,
However you decide to use Reflecting Through A Child's Eyes, it is our hope that this recourse might inspire and challenge your congregation to reach out and make a difference in the lives of God's beautiful children all around the world.
