Cross-Culture Church Development
The United States is truly a huge mosaic of different cultures and languages. Immigrants from all over the world have moved to the USA by the millions. All are at different levels of assimilation into the American language and culture. The Hispanic population is over 37 million and growing. Hispanics have become the largest minority group in the USA. The number of people of Asian descent is approaching 10 million. As well, there are hundreds of thousands of other peoples from all over the world moving into this country. Many come from countries where there is little freedom or opportunity to hear the Good News of Christ.
We feel this is an extraordinary opportunity to reach the world from our own doorstep. We are convinced that the best way to reach a particular language group in America is by churches of that language with a pastor who speaks that language and understands the culture. We also realize that the children and youth of our cross culture churches are quickly assimilated into the language and culture of the United States. They have unique needs. There is great need for effective ministry to reach both new immigrants to the USA and their children. The Cumberland Presbyterian Church is making a concerted effort to plant churches and develop ministries to meet the unique language and culturalneeds of new arrivals to the USA.
