Christ Church - Tampa, Florida

Construction is under way for Christ Church=s new sanctuary. Organized by Grace Presbytery in 2002, the congregation led by pastor Tim Davis has been meeting in a temporary facility on its church property since November 2000. In 2003 judicatory subsidy for the new church was completed. Two morning services have Amaxed out@ seating capacity, and facilities for education, ministry, choir and other programs have been extremely limited. With attendance around 120 in the temporary chapel, the sanctuary will provide a new impetus for growth in this rapidly developing suburban community. Construction was delayed again and again by unanticipated city regulations and requirements, but at last the patience, faithfulness and diligence of the congregation is to be rewarded with an excellent facility for service. This is another Asuccess story@ in our church planting efforts in recent years, thanks in part to the vision of members of the former N. Tampa Church and Grace Presbytery.

This new church effort co-sponsored with Grace Presbytery is led by Dr. Luciano Jaramillo, who is years past headed the Colegio Americano in Cali, Colombia. More recently he has been on staff of the International Bible Society, and is the founding pastor of this new congregation which purchased an existing church facility last year for $500,000. Then congregation paid $100,000 as a downpayment and financed the remainder through the Board of Stewardship. Since then mission work teams have made renovations and improved the facility markedly. The congregation has outstanding lay leadership and a committed core group of about 70. It is rapidly moving toward full self-support.
