New Community Fellowship - Denver, Colorado
This is a new church effort under the direction of Tom Sanders, who was hired by the Board of Missions in December 2000 as a Catalyst Church Planting Specialist. The target area of Tom's efforts is the Greater Denver area. Presently, a worshiping congregation is underway in the Smoky Hills area of Centennial, Colorado. The dream is that multiple new church starts will arise from the efforts of the catalyst and others in the metro area. Average Sunday worship attendance at the local elementary school is 26, with offerings of $350. Weekly cell groups/Bible study activities averagea bout 10. Two key leaders are emerging from this work. Scott Rowe, a Denver Seminary graduate, is now under the care of Presbytery of del Cristo, and is a vital ministry partner in the new church. Upon ordination he will likely help initiate another work in the area. David Claiborne is serving as worship leader. Others in the core group have undertaken responsibilities in children's ministry and outreach. Community visitation, door-to-door flyers, week-end signs at intersections, letters of invitation to newcomers, networking with friends of core group members, presentations at seminars and conferences are among the contacts used by the church planter and the core group.
