Evangelism Focus
The General Assembly’s Evangelism Focus continues to call the denomination and its churches to concentrate on actively sharing the gospel of Christ with those who do not consider themselves Christians in any life-shaping way. Prayer, diligent study of and listening to the Scripture from the perspective of faith-sharing, developing relationships with non-church friends, providing community-based outreach ministries, offering guest-friendly worship services and church activities all contribute to our heightened awareness to the responsibility to ‘make disciples among all peoples,’ as Christ commands
The Evangelism and Church Development Unit of the Missions Ministry Team seeks to address the call to evangelism through its efforts in New Church Development, Cross-Culture Ministry, Congregational Revitalization, and by providing consultations, training workshops and print/internet resources for local congregations and their leaders.
The Missions Ministry Team web site features an Evangelism Focus webpage with articles and resources relating to this emphasis. A periodic electronic newsletter, "The E-Word," is also available for those interested in being part of a growing Evangelism Focus Network for the purpose of sharing ideas and resources, along with a blog, "E-Blog," dedicated to evangelism concerns. Additional training documents in Word, PDF and PowerPoint formats are available here, too.
