Enjoy the Smoky Mountains while supporting Presbyterian and Reformed ministry in Appalachia

Between June and October (the tourist season!), CAM Cabin Crafts needs extra help.
Come to Townsend, TN for a couple of weeks or more and volunteer in the shop about 20 hours/week. The rest of your time will be available for rest and relaxation of your choosing. Housing for 1 or 2 people is provided for up to 5 months. Sound good? It’s true!

Cyclone Nargis

Myanmar Crisis and Cumberland Presbyterian Response

It is estimated that as many as 100,000 may been killed in a tropical cyclone that struck Myanmar in early May. Whole villages were destroyed. The majority of the people affected live in abstract poverty and have no way to restructure their life without international assistance. Our denomination will want to assist. <<Read More>>

 

Earthquake in ChinaDiaster Relief

A devastating earthquake with magnitude 7.8 struck northern part of Sichuan province, China on the afternoon of May 12. The epicenter was located 20km underground in Wenchuan County of Aba Prefecture. Near 10,000 deaths were recorded and more than 500,000 houses fell down in several provinces including Sichuan, Gansu, Shanxi, Chongqing, Yunnan, Guizhou and Hubei. Cumberland Presbyterians were either working or living in these providences at the time of the earthquake, but all escaped injury.

EvangelismGA Adopts Priority Focus on Evangelism

Among the momentous decisions from this year’s General Assembly were some that might have slipped under the radar. They had to do with a projected five-year focus onevangelism for the denomination, specifically emphasizing “leading congregations in how to do personal evangelism that is appropriate to their cultural context.”
