Planning Tips for October C. E. Ministry Team

1. Checking In

With what thoughts/feelings/experiences are ministry team members coming to the meeting?

2. Devotional Thoughts and Prayer

3. Reviewing Agenda

Give everyone an opportunity to add items to the agenda.

4. Report from the Session

Give time to hear from the session.

6. Updating on Ongoing Ministries

Sunday School

           Children/Jr. High/Sr. High Youth Groups

           Small Groups/Other Classes

7. Planning and Budgeting

Review your planning and budgeting from the September meeting. Do you need to revisit anything?

8. Advent/Christmas

It is time to think about what educational opportunities you may want to plan for during

the season of Advent/Christmas. Would an intergenerational opportunity be appropriate and appreciated? Has it been some time since your church has gathered around making Chrismons, Advent wreaths, Advent calendars, etc. Be sure to consult Bridges from your denominational Board of Christian Education for ideas.

9. Leader Development

The online leader development resource, Opening Doors to Discipleship, is now live.

This first course is Teaching Skills. Go to openingdoorstodiscipleship.com. Click on Registration and enter the information requested. The Cumberland Presbyterian Church Log-in Number is 14549. Spend some time discussing how you might interest your

           teachers/leaders in this course.

10. Unique Areas

The push for the new church school year is behind you and there may be some areas that you want to give time to addressing. For example, is your church nursery inviting? Do you need to plan something for older adults or young adults in your congregation? Can classes contribute to worship during this time?

11. Setting Date for the Next Meeting

These are just some hints for an agenda. Make it yours!
