This page is designed to give you information about the Christian Education Consultant program. Consultants come from both the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America.  The Consultant Network is one of a number of jointly planned and implemented programs of Christian education of the two denominations.

Who Are Christian Education Consultants?

Christian education consultants are volunteers who are trained to assist presbyteries and congregations in a variety of ministries: children, youth, young adult, adult, and family. In addition, consultants serve to help equip other church leaders such as deacons and elders in their leadership roles.

Over 100 consultants are in the network. They are committed to using their skills when called upon by presbyteries and congregations in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America.

A Consultant Training Event (CTE) is held annually. Christian educators currently in the program gather to share ideas and experiences, and update skills in various workshop settings. Persons interested in becoming consultants also attend.

What does a Christian Education Consultant Do?

Christian education consultants are volunteers who provide assistance at the request of a congregation, presbytery, cluster of churches, or synod.

     Consultants

Once a Consultant who can provide the appropriate services is identified, churches may make their arrangements directly with the Consultant as to the type of service needed, content, time, date, place, and honorarium/expenses payment. Consultant services may also be secured by contacting presbyterial Christian education boards and agencies, or through the Board of Christian Education, 1978 Union Avenue, Memphis, TN 38104, 901-276-4572, e-mail education@cumberland.org.

The Consultant may meet with the planners, or go over the plans on the phone. Once specific needs are identified and the content of their work together is determined, the Consultant works with the group to meet their needs. Consultants have access to on-going training, a lending library and other resources, a network of trained Christian educators, and denominational board staff as needed.

Are you interested in becoming a volunteer consultant?
Consultants are needed in every presbytery and region of the church. Your skills may be just the ones needed. For a list of consultants in your region, contact your presbyterial Board of Christian Education, or, contact:
