The time having arrived for this "Special Hour" an opportunity was given for any one wishing to converse with this Presbytery as to an internal call to the gospel ministry, to do so.
Bro. J. M. Vaughn came forward and presented himself at the bar of Cumberland Presbytery.
The Moderator named Rev. E. L. Freeman to question Bro. Vaughn.
J. M. Vaughn was born in Green County, Kentucky, December 5, 1900, was converted at Salem Church during a revival held there by Rev. G. T. Piper and Rev. N. A. Johnson. He was reclaimed at the age of 17. He is a member of Salem Church. He is a married man. He has an eight grade plus education. He is an ex-school teacher. His post office address is Gumsville, Ky.
Motion made and duly seconded to receive Bro. Vaughn under
the care of this Presbytery as a candidate for the ministry. Motion
carried.

The report of the Committee on Theology and Literature was read and its recommendations concurred in. The report is as follows:
We your Committee on Theology and Literature submit the following report.
We met Oct. 10, 1932 for the examination of the Probationers of Cumberland Presbytery. Bro. J. M. Vaughn and Bro. James Myers were the only candidates present. These brethern have been doing quite a bit of preaching the past six months and show suitable proficiency we believe for licensing them for the Gospel ministry.
W recommend that this Presbytery set an hour for licensing
of these brethren at this sittings of Presbytery.

1975
DEATH. J. M. Vaughn, 74, a veteran minister of the church, died in Campbellsville, KY, April 5. Although he was retired he had preached at the Liberty CP Church at Campbellsville on the previous Sunday.
His funeral was held at the Liberty Church.
His survivors include his wife, a daughter Mildred Vaughn,
and a son John W. Vaughn, both of Campbellsville. Also a married
daughter.
