Born December 19, 1881, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wilbur Mason, a Long Beach, California, November 26, 1946.
Was married to Miss Netter Turnbow, September 24, 1899. Surviving relatives are his wife, seven children, two brothers, two sisters, thirty-two grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
He was converted and joined the C. P. Church early in life, was ordained to a full work in the ministry in Ewing Presbytery, September 1, 1911, where most of his ministerial labors were performed.
He felt a call to labor among weak congregations or in communities where no churches existed. On horseback, on foot, in his car, anyway to reach his appointments without promises of renumeration, he labored until failing health forced him to slow down.
He was an authority on the doctrine and laws of our Church and believed in keeping them in force. If a law was a good one, or if our doctrine was Scriptural, keep them to the letter; if not, repeal them. But to him they were based on Scripture. He had organized more congregations than any one minister in Ewing Presbytery.
Suffering a series of strokes several years ago, he had been unable to preach since. His children returned the body to Arkansas for burial, where it could rest at Rock Springs where most of his home life was spent.
His funeral was conducted by Rev. J. E. Williamson, pastor
of Hector Church, assisted by Revs. W. L. Kinslow and J. G. Stokes,
moderator of Ewing Presbytery.--J. H. Hurly.
