We were greatly shocked on the evening of February 12 to learn
by a telephone message that the Rev. T. C. Newman, pastor at Bowen's
Chapel, in Clarksville
Presbytery, had met death in an accident at Waverly, Tenn.,
that afternoon. Brother Newman and his wife and daughter were
in an automobile, and in attempting to cross the railroad at Waverly
were struck by a fast freight train. Their care was demolished,
and Brother Newman lived less than an hour. Mrs. Newman and the
daughter were hurt, but no fatally.
