An opportunity was given for persons to converse with the Presbytery
in reference to an internal call to the work of the ministry,
whereupon W. A. Hester and J. Will Howell, of the Bell's-Chapel
congregation, presented themselves and after the necessary
questions had been asked them, and satisfactory answers given,
they were received under the care of the Presbytery as candidates
for the gospel ministry, and the committee on examination ordered
to furnish them texts of scripture from which to prepare written
discourses to be read before the Presbytery at its next meeting.

In memory of Rev. J. Will Howell, born October 22, 1872;
died November 24, 1921. He was saved at the age of 13, and joined
the Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Bell's Chapel, Obion Presbytery;
entered the ministry and joined Obion Presbytery, 1905; transferred
to Hopewell Presbytery, 1914. He was a true and faithful minister
of Jesus Christ. He leaves a heartbroken widow and two little
children, who have the deepest sympathy of the Presbytery.

The usual devotional service consisted of a memorial service
in memory of Rev. J. Will Howell, deceased, led by Rev.
B. J. Reagin. In this service the brethren paid many beautiful
tributes of respect and loving remembrance, and a special prayer
was offered praying God's blessings upon the widow and children,
commending them to his grace and care; led by the Moderator. On
motion, a page in the minutes was dedicated to his memory and
on which to print his picture.
