"The
Presbytery entered into the service of ordaining Licentiate Joe
C. Gardner to the full work of the Gospel Ministry at the hour
of 11:00 a.m. Rev. E. S. Hicks preached the ordination sermon,
using for a text 1 Cor. 9:16. Bro. C. C. Hicks of Mt. Zion, who
is the grandfather of Bro. Joe C. Gardner, led in prayer. Special
music was rendered by Mrs. Alvin Lasher, Mrs. F. E. Metzger, Misses
Allie Mae and Attie B. Roberts and Prof. Willie Elliott.
Rev.
T. D. Harris delivered the charge and the Presbytery laid hands
upon Joe C. Gardner, while Rev. Russell Tatum led the dedicating
prayer and Joe C. Gardner was set apart to the full work of the
Gospel Ministry."
"Rozzell's Chapel,
Shady Grove and Union ask for the services of Rev. Joe C. Gardner
one-fourth time for twelve months and promising him $5.00 per
trip, $12.50 per trip and salary to be fixed at first service,
respectfully."
