--Rev. J. M. Martin, of Fort Worth, Texas, sends the following
sad news: Rev. W. B. Dawson, of Decatur, Texas, passed
peacefully away at his home on the morning of February 9. He was
eighty-four years of age; had been in the ministry sixty-six years.
In his early ministry he preached to every congregation in the
denomination. His funeral was preached at Decatur by the writer
February 10 in the presence of a very large congregation. The
pastors of all the churches suspended their own services and attended
the funeral." Mr. Dawson was one of the ablest defenders
of Cumberland Presbyterian doctrines, universally esteemed for
his piety and great ability. Numberless homes will be saddened
by the announcement that this grand old man is dead.
