Services for the Rev. Thaddeus Alphonso King, 82, of Henderson, will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 1996, at Pine Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church on the Brachfield Hwy. near Henderson with the Revs. Robert E. Thomas and D. C. Madkins officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery under the direction of Jenkins-Garmon Funeral Home.
Rev. King died Oct. 6, 1996 at Henderson Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born April 27, 1914 in Rusk County. He attended Rusk County public schools and lived most of his adult life in Rusk County. He was a Presbyterian and a Presbyterian minister of the gospel.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 7 p.m.-8 p.m..
Survivors include: a son, Joe Nathan King, Denver, Colo.; two grandchildren, Tina m. and Jonettia King; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Roger King, Henderson; four sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Johnson, Longview, Mrs. Woodie B. King, Mrs. Alma Hill and Mrs. Ruby Tyeskey, all of Henderson.
Pallbearers will be his nephews.

Reverend Thaddeus Alphonso King, son of the late Willie (Bill) and Clara Jones King was born in Rusk County, Texas April 27, 1914. He attended the public schools in the community of his birth and united with the Pine Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church at the age of twelve and was called to the ministry in 1932. He served pastorates at the Union Murval Cumberland Presbyterian Church, The Saint Bettie Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Henderson, Texas and the Pleasant Holly Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Cherokee County, Texas. Rev. King was married to Ms. Willie Mae Jones and to the union one son was born.
Rev. King departed this life Sunday, October 6, 1996 in the Henderson Memorial Hospital, Henderson, Texas after an extended illness, leaving to cherish his memory, a son, Joe Nathan King of Denver, Colorado; two grandchildren, Tina M. and Jonettia King; six great grandchildren; one brother, Roger King of Henderson, Texas; four sisters; Mrs. Gertrude Johnson of Longview, Texas; Mrs. Woodie B. King, Mrs. Alma Hill and Mrs. Ruby Tyeskie, all of Henderson, Texas; many other relatives and friends.

Mr. Willie Davis (Bill) King was born June 14, 1879 in Rusk County. He died January 30, 1946.
He joined Pine Grove Presbyterian Church in 1917.About 1933 he moved to Gilmer, Texas and united with the C.M.E. Church there. He served as Ruling Elder in the Presbyterian Church and he also served in the C.M.E. Church as a Steward until death.
He was married to Mrs. Emma Prior at an early age. To this union two children were born, Allen and Earnest. He was later united in marriage to Clara Jones in 1914 and to this union four girls and six boys were born. He leaves to mourn his loss, girls Gertrude, Woodie, Alma, Ruby, boys Alfonso, J. C., Claudie, Rogers, Ike, Ralph, Bennie and Allen King and eighteen grandchildren.

Services for Mrs. Clara King, 81, of Henderson will be held at the Pine Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church on the Brachfield highway Sunday at 2 p.m. with Rev. S. L. Hill officiating.
Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery under the direction of Jenkins-Garmon Funeral Home.
Mrs. King died in Henderson Memorial Hospital Monday evening following a brief illness.
A member of the Pine Grove Presbyterian Church and Reese Shiloh Court No. 137, Heroines of Jericho, she was born November 15, 1893, in Rusk County and was a lifelong resident of the county.
Survivors are the following children, Rev. Alphonso King, Mrs. Woodie B. Hill, Mrs. Alma Hill, Mrs. Ruby Tyeskey, J. C., Claudie, Roger and Ike King, all of Henderson, and Ralph King of Longview; three brothers; two sisters; eleven step-children, 27 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Rufus Sheppard Jr., Floy Starling, Odell
Starling, Cleveland Strong Jr., Curtis Ellison and Henry Squire.

Mother Clara King was born in Rusk County, Texas November 15, 1893 to the family of the late Robert and Janie Helms Jones. She was reared in the Reese Shiloh Community and united with the Reese Shiloh Church in 1909. She later united with the Pine Grove Presbyterian Church in 1926 where she remained faithful until death. At the time of her death she was treasurer of the Missionary Society. She was also a member of Reese Shiloh Court No. 137, Heroines of Jericho.
Mrs. King was married to Mr. W. D. (Bill) King January 31,
1914 and to this union ten children were born, Mr. King and one
of the children preceded her in death. She departed this life
March 24, 1975 leaving to mourn her departure, nine children:

J. C., Claudie and Roger King, Mrs. Ruby Tyeskey and Ike King,
all of Henderson, Texas; and Ralph King of Longview, Texas; three
brothers, two sisters, eleven step-children, twenty seven grandchildren,
more than forty three great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews
and other relatives and friends.
