Whereas, it has pleased the eternal Father to remove from his earthly labor, our dear co-laborer, Rev. J. I. Hill, Jr. And whereas, the years of his manhood were reservedly given to the cause of Christianity and religious services. In addition to his work as minister Rev. J. I. Hill served for eight years as assistant stated clerk of the Texas Synod and four years assistant stated clerk of the General Assembly of the Second Cumberland Presbyterian Church of the U.S.A.
His work as clerk was an outstanding event. And whereas, he exemplified a cheerful, Christ-like spirit and he will indeed be missed from and among his his many friends.
Be it resolved, that we in humble submission to Him who doeth all things . . . for in that great awakening morning, we shall all meet our loved ones around the throne of glory, where parting shall be no more and where peace will abide forevermore.
Resolved again, that we, the the Texas Synod, express our deepest sympathy of a true friend in kingdom building and a loyal officers of our organization.
Be it resolved further, that we extend our deepest sympathy to his relatives and friends; that we pledge ourselves to emulate his loyalty to Christ and His cause, and to encourage those left behind to carry out his ideals; for we are comforted by the thought that his good works will follow him while he rests from his labor.
Resolved lastly, that a copy of these resolutions be given the bereaved family, a copy be spread on the face of our records and a copy sent to the office of The Cumberland Flag for publication.
"Loving and kind in all your ways,
So willing
to help, so quick to praise.
Sincere and true in
your heart and mine,
Beautiful memories you left
behind."
Respectfully submitted,
Rev.
